Maren and Torsten Dönhoff were no Hoteliers when they decided to buy Arumeru River Lodge in 2010. Both worked in Healthcare Industry, Maren as Director of Sales in Germany and Torsten as VP Global Marketing and Sales.
In year 2000 the two started travelling intensively in Southern Africa, exploring Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. In 2006 they bought a Landrover in Germany and started to cross the African Continent trying to make their way from Germany to Capetown in intervals while still working in Germany (www.through-africa.com)
They came as far as South Zambia and then decided that now they were ready for their next step: A Lodge in Africa! This is not less than an entirely new setup for life.
In September 2010 they chose to make Tanzania their new home country and bought Arumeru River Lodge.
